Dentist Team

Paul Woodhouse

Bachelor of Dental Surgery, Newcastle, UK

GDC Number: 78786

The Grange Dental Practice has been serving patients since the 1920s, and the whole team work

hard to offer the best possible standard of care and customer service, in a friendly and welcoming

environment.

I have been proudly caring for my patients as a dentist here at the Practice for over fifteen years; I

now have the pleasure of caring for the children of people who were still in school when I first got here!

I am highly skilled in a wide range of preventative, restorative and cosmetic dentistry treatments, from

simple fillings to cosmetic braces or implants.  I am a strong believer in continual education, and attend

many courses throughout the year; this allows me to offer the widest range of treatment options to give

you the smile that you wish for.

My surgery has been designed with patients in mind, with a ceiling mounted TV screen, low noise

instruments and a massage chair with heat options for added comfort. As I’m a child from the ‘70s, the

surgery has a ‘Star Wars Lego’ theme, which is loved by my younger patients (and of course big kids!)

I am passionate about shaping the future of modern UK dentistry, and have recently been elected to the

Executive Committee of the British Dental Association. This position enables me to be at the very forefront

of UK dentistry initiatives, and make sure that our Practice is continually evolving to give our patients the

best possible care.

On a personal note, I am a huge fan of rugby union, and played for the local Billingham Club for many years.

I am now re-discovering my teenage love of Aikido, and am working towards earning my black belt within

the next few years.  I love spending time with my young family and we often enjoy walking in the Lakes together.

I look forward to welcoming you and your family to the Practice. Our friendly reception team are on hand to

answer any of your questions, so please do give us a call.

Emma Green

Bachelor of Dental Surgery, Newcastle, UK

GDC Number: 103995

I graduated from Newcastle University in 2006 and continued to work in Newcastle until I joined the Grange

Dental Team in 2011. During my studies, I spent some time in South America, working at the Orthodontics

Institute of Buenos Aires and gaining valuable experience in the treatment of rare head and neck

malformations in children.

I strive to give my patients the best quality of care possible and am always looking to improve my skills.

I have gained additional qualifications in the Quick Straight Teeth orthodontic system and the removable

Inman Aligner appliance. I also attended a year-long Advanced restorative course at the prestigious

Tipton Training Academy, learning about advanced new techniques in all aspects of dentistry.

In 2010, I attended extensive training at a top Harley Street Clinic and earned qualification as a Medics

Direct Facial Aesthetics Practitioner. I am qualified in a wide range of modern facial rejuvenation

techniques, including anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers. I am proud to work hard to give patients

the cosmetic results that they want; as such I have certificates in aesthetic composite fillings, flexible

dentures and am also able to offer patients the highly effective Enlighten Whitening system.

Outside of dentistry, I am interested in all aspects of health & fitness; I am a keen runner and dancer.

I also enjoy vegan cookery (it’s delicious I promise), going to the theatre and spending time with my

husband and young son.

full time and worked back with Paul until February 2014 when I went on maternity leave to have my Daughter Chloe.

I came back to work in January 2015 and now work with Emma Green 3 days a week. I can honestly say that we are all like a little

family; we all get on very well and even socialize outside of work when we can. Having two young children at home, it’s nice to

Practice Management

Ruth Woodhouse- Business Manager

BA(Hons) Economics, MA(Cantab) Economics, University of Cambridge

GDC Number: N/A

I have always had a passion for customer service and working within a team, so Retail was at first an obvious career path for me.

I graduated from Cambridge University in 2012, having read economics. I joined the Marks and Spencer Graduate training

Programme and from then on I was hooked. I spent a number of years travelling the country in my role as Per Una Regional

Operations Manager, before joining TJX Europe as a District Manager.

Although I loved retail, after 10 years on the road I wanted to spend more time with family and friends. Paul and I had our daughter

in 2013, which has been an amazing life changing experience for us both (if a little tiring!)

When Paul and I took over the Practice in 2014, it was a natural transition for me to join the team as Business Manager, focusing

on the non clinical aspects of the Practice. I have really enjoyed getting to know the Practice team and our patients. Whilst I have

a good understanding of customer service, accounts and HR, I know very little about dentistry, so have started on a dental nursing

course to further my understanding.

I am really excited to work with our patients and staff to evolve the business, putting excellent patient care at the heart of everything

we do. We have big plans over the coming years to extend opening hours, refurbish the reception areas and generally make

the Practice more modern, whilst retaining the friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

In my spare time, I have recently taken up kickboxing. I am only a yellow belt at the moment but would like to progress to become

a black belt one day. I also love socialising with friends and family, and walking in the Lake District.

Jackie Thwaites- Patient Care Manager

NVQ Level 5- Customer Care

GDC Number: N/A

After finishing college in 1989 I joined the practice as a Dental Nurse and worked alongside Mr Scott full time until I got married

and had a family. My role on returning from maternity leave changed to an administrative one working in reception where I am now

a member of the practice management team. Although the practice has seen some changes over the years the friendly and

caring atmosphere has always stayed the same.

I enjoy interacting with our patients and helping them where I can. I have recently gained my diploma in customer care so that

I can continue to develop new ways to make our patients happy. I feel I am lucky to work alongside a great team who I don’t just see

as colleagues; I consider them to be close friends.

Away from the practice I have a very busy family life with my hubby and two teenage children, which has just got more hectic after

inheriting a one year old dog. I love socialising with my friends and family and it’s no secret that I am a massive Bon Jovi fan.

Decontamination Nurse

Imogen Ord-Smith

GDC Number: N/A

I joined the Practice in 2016; my main role here is in controlling the decontamination suite. I ensure that all instruments used within the Practice are fully cleaned and sterilised, and that all relevant regulations are strictly adhered to. I also support the Practice on reception, and love interacting with our patients.

In my personal life, I enjoy socialising with friends and family, and have a well known passion for cats. I am fondly known within the

Practice as 'the crazy cat lady!'
